Rain Rain
Haaaiiiiii, its been awhile. But whatever, I surely am aware on how unpredictable and messy my blogging pattern is. A few days towards the end of 2015, my bff and I decided that we both should make ourselves a set of resolutions for 2016 and one of mine was to blog at least twice a month. Regardless of having made that so called New Year's Resolution, this is only well, my second blog post after almost 3 months. I'm not really sure if its because my schedule has actually been that hectic lately or I've just been procrastinating a lot soz.
But guess what?
I have today off yay.
I have today off yay.
It's because of the -I would say- remarkable rainstorm yesterday. Seriously, its so much more than the ones of the past few years. Since Monday the sky has been so cloudy. As predicted by The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), the sky finally decided to let go of the tears its been holding in. Probably because its sad too that the breezy cold weather is transitioning into the humid and scorching hot typical Middle Eastern weather. //I feel you//. If you live in Dubai, or almost everywhere in the Middle East, seeing and getting to experience rain is rare (I take rain in Malaysia for granted T.T). It only rains like twice or thrice a year hence the excitement is severe.
So when it started raining yesterday, I was in the middle of math class and as it starts getting heavier I could hear other people screaming of excitement. At the corridor, I could see everyone holding their phones in their hands, taking snapchats of this rare sight. And the whole class just goes ooooooooooooo when thunder hits. See, that's how serious affects of the absence of rain is.

The rain continued for the next few hours, getting heavier and heavier every minute. At one point, I wasn't sure myself if I was at school or in a sinking Titanic since there was water everywhere. By the time we had lunch, the surroundings of our school was almost flooded so they decided to release us an hour earlier (woop woop).
Compared to Abu Dhabi though, the rainstorm here was no big deal. The national weather bureau reported that at noon, the wind speed have surpassed 100km/h over here. Not to mention the number of vehicles damaged, glass broken and the collapse of light poles and ceilings in Sky Park Plaza and GEMS American Academy to name a few. Throughout the day, the local news was full of updates and coverage from all 7 emirates as well as its neighbours: Oman and Qatar which too, were affected greatly.

Considering that they don't expect much rain in this part of the world, drainage system is not something they prioritise on. Plus, sand easily absorbs water. So when it rains, high chances are that it might flood as well, but temporarily that is.

The weather's perfectly fine today. Perfect weather to go for a picnic or any outdoor activities. But still, I am so glad (ALHAMDULILLAH) that we don't have school today otherwise, I wouldn't be here right now, still alive and happy. Thank you rain, I'm saved from taking a test that I didn't get to study for because of the 94327843 assignments I have that are all supposed to be due today.
