Winter Break 2017: Dubai

Started my break a week earlier than everyone else hence you could say that I had a pretty amazing 1 whole month of winter break without any sight and thought of school (Jk, I still had a shit load of work to do and stuff to catch up on as soon as I got back. It's senior year, after all.)

As you can tell LMAO

Had my end of semester Math exam in the morning, and had no other classes after which meant I could leave anytime I wanted to cause senior privilege (whoop whoop!!). Started packing as soon as I got home cause our flight was in just a few hours, and I sure do take a whole lotta time to pack. I usually start packing weeks before i travel but the last few weeks of the semester had been an immensely busy time for me, and definitely had push me to the peak of my stress with finals, IA due dates and such. After a few hours of throwing this and that into my luggage bag(s), I was finally set to go!

The 7/8 hour flight felt so long as usual, cause I really am not a sit still type of person. I get so bored when I have to sit in one place for hours and hours which is why I despise long flights. But until they invent something faster than aeroplanes, this is the only option we have lol.

Landed at Dubai International Airport pretty early in the morning. Filled with joy, I stepped my foot on the floors of that very airport again after a whole year and a half of being in its absence. Since we only had two days there, we couldn't afford to waste any time. Since the previous month, I've been listing down the food I've been craving for and the list goes like this:
- Salt
- Shake Shack
- Grandma's Waffle
- Parker's
- Elevation Burger
- Cheesecake Factory
- Five Guys
- There's a whole bunch of other restaurants but I can't think of them atm HAHAHA

Actual loml

And the best part is, all of them could be found in Dubai Mall, now that Salt has opened a food truck kinda thing by the fountains :> Obviously, didn't get to check all of the above off my list, but it was g cause we were only there for such a short period of time anyways.

A strand of hipster-ish cafes and burger joints along Kite Beach

The two days and two nights stopover in Dubai was pretty chill, since we weren't really there as tourists???  It was more of a back to memory lane kind of trip. Got to catch up with a few of my close friends and also my favourite English teacher ever, Ms Mel and God knows how happy I was to see each and every single one of these familiar faces again. And definitely seeing the city I've called home again after over a year has got me feeling so nostalgic. So much has changed in such a short period of time, which is no surprise for a rapidly growing and changing city like Dubai.

Till next time, Dubai ❤︎

FUN FACT: There are 131 buildings in Downtown Dubai (which covers 2 kilometre square of land)  alone as of 2017.

Guess that's it for this post, will see you again soon, blog xx
