Ciao Italia day 1 & 2

Happy Eid Mubarak everyone!

Since we have a few days(only 2 sigh) off from school, my parents decided that we'd go somewhere. Somewhere that's not in the middle east cause almost everything you could say would be closed cause it's eid. We learnt that from our visit to Oman last year, when the tourist attractions including museums were all closed. That left us with just the view and anything else that doesn't require being inside a building, or an area. Not to deny the fact that the country is filled with overwhelmingly beautiful natural charms. That was definitely a trip to remember!

Having that in mind, my parents decided to travel to Europe this time. YAAYYY.

Soooo here I am, in a train that just departed from Rome on our way to the city I've been dreaming of being in for so long aka Milan! //heart eyes emoji// The train's gonna take 3 hours which means I have plenty of time to blog & also to enjoy the Italian countryside view along the way yay!

 22nd September 2015
Reached Dubai International airport few minutes before it turned 1am. Sighhhhh, with only 3 hours of sleep! But I slept pretty much the whole time in the plane anyways so its all good.

Alhamdulillah, after 6 hours of being in the sky, we safely landed in Fiumicino Airport(FCO).

The apartment we were staying in was literally 5 minutes away from Termini train station.

So traveling by metro would be a great idea, I thought. But mannnn there were thousand steps of stairs we had to climb at each and every station. My legs felt like breaking at the end of the day. Ok maybe I was exaggerating but it still hurts, a lot.

Spent that day roaming around Via Condotti and the Spanish Steps, the chic fashion district of Rome. The place is not the only chic and stylish one, but the people too oh my gosh. Italians really have a great sense in fashion besides being naturally attractive. Model looks everywhere ugh.

Old buildings were everywhere in sight. Here's a fact I just learned about myself: the older I grow (chehh), the more I'm becoming a sucker for old architecture.

Then when we reached the hotel, I doze off immediately due to exhaustion.

23rd September 2015

Second day, it was our tour day! Was supposed to meet our driver at 8am but ended up locking the apartment door at 830am. Like psshh, who even has time to be punctual when you're on your holiday.  HAHAHA, no. Bad example kids.

First stop, it was the coliseum. The ruins of what used to be the largest amphitheatre in the world where people during the ancient Roman Empire would entertain themselves by watching gladiators compete violently for victory. Losers are locked up in cells and end up getting eaten by a beast. It's pretty much the ancient time hunger games. You lose, you die.

The coliseum is capable of holding 50,000 to 80,000 spectators which to me is more than just being a big deal. That's amazing man. Imagine. It was built in the 1st century, without any form of technology like cranes, cements and other machinery. Dah la so huuuugeeeeeeeeeee.

Then we visited the bordering country, Vatican City. Yep, a separate country that's only 0.44 of a square km. Wish we got to go inside the museum for better pictures, but the queue was hella long. The line was literally more than a kilo meter long. So pictures outside also okay la.

The Fontana de Trevi was under construction which got us all disappointed. People would usually toss coins into the fountain as a tradition introduced by the movie Three coins in the fountain. It's believed to bring good luck and speedy return back to the city. So of course, it's a must visit place.

Before going to sleep I ate sambal ikan bilis with bread. There were hardly any grocery stores where we were staying in Rome so our food supply was so limited, luckily my mom brought that essential item. Yes you read that right. Sambal ikan bilis, that's a necessary item whenever my family and I travel. Especially when it's somewhere outside Southeast Asia. I mean, just tell me which Malaysian can stand not eating Malaysian food for more than a week? Let's beat them up.

Kidding.

Till the next post.
